Magnetic Cannons

Mainstay anti-ship projectile weapon of the Terran Coalition. The Lion of Judah mounts ten, triple turret batteries with a 500mm bore. They are the largest Magnetic Cannons currently carried by any vessel in the CDF’s inventory.  The projectiles they fire weigh as much as a helicar and gut anything smaller than a heavy cruiser with ease.

Neutron Beam Emitters

Primary energy weapon of the Terran Coalition. Fires a solid beam of tightly packed neutrons that crush targets and cause extensive thermal damage. Damage output constrained by reactor size and the vessel’s energy weapon capacitor.

Bridge / CIC

While most ships have a bridge dedicated to the control of one vessel, the Lion of Judah is outfitted for complete fleet command. Sporting the latest tactical networking technology and holographic tactical displays, practically any size fleet can be managed from her bridge/CIC facility.

Anti-Matter Reactor / Engine Room

The pinnacle of Terran Coalition technology, the revolutionary Anti-Matter reactor carried by the Lion of Judah powers numerous wonders including the strongest shields, largest weapons, and most powerful engines ever mounted on a CDF warship. In time, should it prove safe and effective, Anti-Matter reactors should become the power plant of choice for all CDF space-going vessels.

Lawrence Drive

The only known Faster-Than-Light travel method, Lawrence Drives create a stable wormhole for several seconds, allowing a ship to transverse them at normal sub-light speeds. The Lion of Judah has the most powerful drive in local space, allowing it to travel up to three hundred light-years in one jump, making it a strategic as well as tactical weapon.

Forward VRLS

The Lion of Judah sports two Vertical Rail Launch Systems, one fore, one aft, each containing one hundred and twenty separate launching tubes. Each tube can hold either a Hunter or Starbolt missile. The typical configuration is twenty Hunters, and one hundred Starbolts. Reloads are performed within the ship from warhead magazines spaced throughout the superstructure.

Aft VRLS

The Lion of Judah sports two Vertical Rail Launch Systems, one fore, one aft, each containing one hundred and twenty separate launching tubes. Each tube can hold either a Hunter or Starbolt missile. The typical configuration is twenty Hunters, and one hundred Starbolts. Reloads are performed within the ship from warhead magazines spaced throughout the superstructure.

CIWS

The Terran Coalition’s Close-In Weapon System or CIWS, provides excellent point defense coverage for the Lion of Judah. There are dozens of emplacements, coupled with an automated fire control system that offers unparalleled protection against enemy missiles and small craft.

Hangar Bays

As a combination Battleship/Carrier, the Lion of Judah is equipped with robust hangar and small craft servicing space. It holds two hundred combat spacecraft consisting of sixteen space superiority fighter squadrons, and four bomber squadrons, in addition to S&R and recon craft.

Deck 1 Conference Room

Directly off the bridge/CIC, the conference room on deck one is where the senior staff meets regularly to review battle plans, ship’s readiness, and plan for the days ahead.

Engine Pods

Ion thrust engines are the primary propulsion system for Terran Coalition warships. The Lion of Judah integrates fusion drive maneuvering thrusters with a tactical thrust system, allowing the massive vessel to remain nimble during combat.

The Lion of Judah represents the pinnacle of Terran Coalition technology. She is the brainchild of General Andrew MacIntosh, who insisted for years that without large battleships, the CDF would be unable to push into League of Sol space and sustain offensive action.

When Doctor Benjamin Hayworth presented his theories on Anti-Matter reactor design, along with a stable prototype, MacIntosh convinced CDF Special Projects command to fund the scientist, as he saw the breakthrough they so desperately needed—a reactor capable of providing the power requirements for the latest generation of shields, weapons, and engines.

After five years of experimentation, Hayworth’s reactor technology progressed enough to warrant installation on a warship. Formerly commissioned as the H.M.S. Lion, the ship was released from extended mothball reserve to CDF Special Projects command. Codenamed “Project Victory”, it became the focus of most of the CDF’s research funds.

While it took an additional four years, the end result was a completely gutted and refitted vessel recommissioned as the CSV Lion of Judah.

Now under the command of Colonel David Cohen, the Lion of Judah is a beacon of hope to an otherwise beleaguered and disheartened Terran Coalition.
